How to Work With a Bangalore Development Team as a US or Canada Client
6 min read
Working with a Bangalore (Bengaluru) development team as a US or Canada client can be smooth if you set up communication, milestones, and expectations well.
Agree on: how you’ll communicate (Slack, email, or both), how often you’ll have calls (e.g. weekly or biweekly), and who’s the single point of contact on their side. Use async updates for progress; use calls for decisions and demos. Put the schedule in the contract or statement of work so both sides honour it. If they go quiet, escalate early—don’t wait until the deadline.
India is roughly 9.5–12.5 hours ahead of US time zones. There’s usually a 2–4 hour overlap (e.g. morning in India = afternoon on the US East Coast). Use that for live calls. For the rest, async is normal: you send questions at your evening; they reply by your next morning. Good teams in Bangalore are used to this and will set expectations (“we respond within 24 hours on weekdays”).
Define scope in writing and tie payments to milestones (e.g. design sign-off, alpha, beta, launch). Demo at each milestone and give feedback in writing. That way you’re not surprised at the end and they’re not stuck waiting for vague “we’ll know it when we see it.” Change requests go through a simple process: “This is out of scope; here’s the quote for the change.”
Start with a small pilot or a clear first milestone. If they deliver on time and quality, trust grows. From day one, contract for code and design ownership in your name (on delivery or on final payment). You should have access to repos and assets; if they resist, that’s a red flag.
Be clear and direct in feedback (“this works” / “this doesn’t, here’s why”). Good Bangalore teams prefer clear requirements to guessing. Respect their working hours; don’t expect instant replies at their midnight. A little structure (brief, milestones, written feedback) goes a long way. Hendoi Technologies works with US and Canada clients from Bangalore. We’re used to this rhythm and we make it easy. Free consultation.
