Do Indian Dev Agencies Work US Timezone Hours: What to Ask Before You Hire
5 min read
Indian dev agencies don’t usually “work US hours” as in shifting their whole day. But many overlap with US hours and commit to response times. Here’s what to ask before you hire.
India is about 9.5–12.5 hours ahead of the US. So “US hours” in India would be late evening or night for the team—not sustainable. What’s realistic: 2–4 hours of overlap (e.g. 9–11 AM India = 10–12 PM US East, or early morning India = afternoon US West). Ask: “When can we have a weekly call that works for both?” If they offer a slot that fits you, that’s the overlap. Use it for demos and decisions.
Ask: “What’s your typical response time for email or Slack on a weekday?” Many good agencies promise 24 hours or “same business day” for non-urgent things. For urgent (production down), ask: “How do we escalate and what’s the response time?” Get it in writing (contract or SOW). That’s more important than “we work US hours.”
Ask: “How many calls per week do you recommend, and at what time (your timezone)?” They should propose a recurring slot. If you’re in the US and they’re in Bengaluru, once or twice a week is common. Demos can be async (recorded walkthrough) if a live call is hard; confirm they’re okay with that. The goal is predictable touchpoints, not “we’re online when you are.”
Include: response time (e.g. “within 24 hours on weekdays”), meeting cadence (e.g. “weekly call, Tuesday 10 AM your time”), and escalation for urgent issues. Then you’re not guessing. Hendoi Technologies works with US and Canada clients from Bengaluru. We commit to clear response times and a recurring call that fits your timezone. Ask us on the first call. Free consultation.
