Industrial IoT Gateway Firmware: What It Does and Cost

An industrial IoT gateway sits between machines (MODBUS, CAN, etc.) and the cloud. Its firmware does protocol translation, buffering when offline, optional edge processing, and secure upload.
- Read from PLCs, sensors, meters via MODBUS, CAN, serial.
- Buffer data when network is down; sync when back.
- Optionally run edge logic (alerts, aggregation).
- Connect to your cloud (MQTT, HTTP, custom) with TLS and auth.
