React Native vs Flutter: Which One Should You Ask Your Dev Agency to Use

5 min read

You’re hiring a dev agency to build your mobile app. Should you ask for React Native or Flutter? Here’s how to decide—or when to let them recommend.

React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript. If your team or future hires are web developers, they’ll feel at home. Huge ecosystem (libraries, talent), and many agencies in India and the US are strong in it. Good for apps that need a lot of third-party integrations or that share logic with a web app. Downsides: native modules can be fiddly; performance is usually great but not always “max native.”

Flutter uses Dart and compiles to native. One codebase for iOS and Android (and often web/desktop). Very consistent UI and fast rendering. Good for apps where design and smooth UX are top priorities. Growing ecosystem; slightly smaller talent pool than React Native in some regions. Some agencies specialise in Flutter; others are stronger in React Native.

Pick React Native if: you already have a web app in React and want to share code or team skills, or you need a stack that’s easiest to hire for in your region. Pick Flutter if: you’re design-led and want pixel-perfect UI and one codebase, and the agency you trust is strong in Flutter.

If you’re agnostic, ask the agency: “For our app (describe briefly), would you use React Native or Flutter and why?” Their answer should match your constraints (team, timeline, design needs). A good agency will recommend one and stand by it with a clear rationale. Don’t force a choice they’re weak in just because you read a blog post. Hendoi Technologies builds in both React Native and Flutter for US, Canada, and Bengaluru clients. We’ll recommend based on your app. Free consultation.
